Extrinsic Motivation

I gave a quiz to my students in Psychological Statistics last month. It was more of a quiz bee type and they had to work by groups. I decided to give the winning group a prize. Each of them received a microscope slide key chain. I personalized each of them so their names were printed on one side, then I came up with whimsical but tiny collages for the other side except for Arman's.

I had been making these key chains for a long time but it was only now that the idea of taking pictures of my work occurred to me. How remiss of me.

But I still needed to get a better camera to come up with better pictures than these.

Flower Baskets for Mae Ann's Wedding

This is another collaboration with Jao, who is a terrific artist. Mae Ann's wedding has become another avenue for us to express our creativity and we have been tasked to come up with unique but economical flower baskets for the flower girls.

Jao has come up with the idea to form scallops on the handle. The effect has been really great. Coming up with the decorative accents has been a great challenge for us. Mae Ann and Jao have scouted some of the textile stores in Naga but most silk flowers are really expensive. They even have an altercation with one of the salesladies in one shop.

Luckily, Unitop offers a variety of cheap silk flowers. Decorative elements that have been used in this project include tiny beads, silk flowers, craft paper twine, organza ribbon, and silk leaves.

Collaborative Work

As my first post, I have decided to present a work I have done with some of my friends. It is a book entitled Patty's Monologues. The book is about the life of Patty. She is the daughter of one of my friends, Tita Myra. It is actually Patty's school project.

The story has been written by Patty and has been edited by Tita Myra. Tita Myra has also done the layout and it looks cute from the inside with some cute pics and clip art to enhance the feeling conveyed in the story.

The cover is a collaboration with Jao, a great artist and friend. She has done the caricature or Patty and she has really captured Patty's personality in that one.

Here is a close up view of the book.

These pics are taken from Patty's friendster site.
